Welcome to the new Aussie High Commissioner

His Excellency Beretitenti Anote Tong and the First Lady Bernadette Meme Tong invited all available Australians and others to a State welcome for the new High Commissioner  George Fraser, and his wife, Denise Huang. It was at Bairiki, 40 mins drive from my end of Tarawa. The company was good, food excellent, entertainment great and speeches short.   

Every feast has a pig

The dancing is a mixture of many Pacific styles, but most recognisable for me is Hawaiian/Tahitian movements for the women, and a strong but more welcoming, less aggressive haka by the men.
